Ridge preservation is a procedure to maintain the patient’s jaw bone following tooth extraction. Patients lose 40-60% of the volume of their jaw bone in the first year, following tooth extraction. Ridge preservation involves placing bone into the extraction site after the tooth is removed, to maintain the normal contours of the jaw bone and if the patient desires future implant placement. At Atlantic Implant Dentistry we routinely bone graft all extraction sites to preserve the patient’s jaw bone and if the patient desires future implant placement.
